My IT manual says to drain the cooler and tank before removing the pump by putting a hose from the scv to the filler tube. OK my question is why will this drain the cooler, tank and pump? This cause the pump not to build pressure? Need a lesson please. I'm just wondering b/c I need to put a case drain on the 4650 for my schaben sprayer pump return. We are currently returning the pump through the scv and hydraulics are not working correctly to operate the sprayer. The local schaben dealer everybody runs the case drain for the return side of the pump on the sprayer. Not sure why we didn't get the message. So by returning the pump oil to the case drain will this cause the pump to cavitate?

I am trying to understand what your doing,,,if you need to dump the oil to a "No pressure" return you can get a fitting for the bung hole in the upper right rear of the trans case,,if the sprayer system is set up for an open system this will cavitate the "Closed " system on this tractor,,if you can return the oil through a ported filter bowel it will help to feed the main pump with the return oil...I guess we need to know more about what your trying to achieve..

How many return lines from the sprayer hydraulic motor? Is there a high volume line from the motor with about 150psi back pressure and a small case drain line from the hydraulic motor operating at atmospheric pressure ?

Draining the front components is done at idle, so yes it could drain when running your schaben pump, thats why you run your tractor at 1200-1500 while pumping. Also while draining you have the scv at max flow, while pumping there is the pump and some restriction, not just a free flow to sump.

Re-read that and it appears there is an after market pto driven pump on the tractor that uses oil from the transmission case ?
