38 G cast rear wheel centers

Have any of you fellows replaced one or more of the 5/8 x 2 1/4 inch wheel clamp studs in cast wheel centers? Several of mine have rusted to the point that the threads are gone. Is there a trick to removing them, other than heating well and using vice grips? Is there a cheaper new part alternative to Deer's @ $11.37 each (part #A5292R)? Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Use Deere's part. I do not know of any cheaper. I used the method you described... although I might have used a pipe wrench...

Just make your own studs. Go to fastenal and get some of the high strength redi-bolt and cut to the length you need. you can buy a couple feet for the cost of one Deere one.
