Thermostat for JD 720 D

What is the correct temperature range of thermostat to use in a 720 diesel? I have a 720 D with a pony motor and I have a 160-180F thermostat in it currently, but I saw in the parts book for the 720, that there is also a thermostat with a range of 180-202F. If I used the hotter thermostat, would this cure my slobber problem I am having?

180-202F won't make the slobber any worse. A heavy weight low ash motor oil rated SF-2 will also provide some reduction as well.
have the injectors been pulled and checked for spray pattern and pop pressure ?
