Looking at getting a local John Deere 710 Moco. Single owner, shed kept, nice shape. Knives are good, was put away in good working order 2 seasons ago. Going to be doing up to 2 acres of straw, 10 acres of mixed hay. Our areas are small areas so the smaller swath machine is not an issue. Anyone have one that likes it or have one that has had issues?

One of my customers has one, it replaced a Deere 1360 moco. secondhand to him, all oils changed every season, checked over and adjusted as per book. There has been one breakdown in the 5 seasons he has had it and that was a hydraulic hose failure, only other replacements have been blades. Machine cuts around 250Ha every year mostly grass for hay and silage. he also has a Case-IH MoCo, cant't remember the model number but it has a roller conditioner, I think it is a badge engineered Hesston, it has been modified by fitting the headstock and swivel gearboxes from the old Deere 1360, that too is a good mower and gets used for lucern because the roller conditioner keeps the leaf. If you are going to cut straw that is dry be aware of the fire risk using a disc mower.

Straw will be cut green then let dry down in the field. We cannot leave the field long enough to let it dry standing.

Thanks for the input!
