max size shredder for JD 2240

What would be the largest shredder that I could use on a 2240?

So far, I was using a heavy duty 10 ft Rhino but I had to replace the load control shaft, including the washer and o-ring. I bought the tractor used but I fear using the heavy shredder may have ruined the load control shaft and washer.

I have the user manual and the technical manual of the tractor, but could not find information on the size of the implements that could be used with the tractor.

Thank you,
Paul

Your 2240 is now well over 20 years old, and load shaft seal replacement and load shaft replacement was not an uncommon job on these tractors that is why you can get these parts without having to go to Mother Deere and pay her prices,- they are fast moving parts. Carry on using what you have. Just be sure that the end float is shimmed out of the shaft when you reassemble, and the new blue seals will last a lot better than the brown ones you took out too.

Ahhhh. A 2240 is between 35 and 41 years old, built from 1976 to 1982.

Sounds like the 10 ft bush hog is too heavy, maybe a 7-8 ft would be better.
