Late A throttle rods

I rebuilt my carb and resetting the throttle rods. Governor lever to throttle lever (one with new paint) 1/2 hole short at wide open. No problem there. But my manual makes no mention of how to set the rod from the hand lever to the governor spring. Is there a procedure for this adjustment or do I just wing it till I get a good idle when I pull it back?

Mike,

I always set mine so the spring just barely touches the arm (gov) when at slow idle. There is a field service bulletin addressing this subject.
