Ok suggestions on this stuck axle on the 60?

I got the leaky axle seal out on the pulley side axel. (There was no washer behind the axle seal). The wedge trick worked for freeing the pulley sideaxle just fine but the other axle I could not get loose. I have tried running a bar in through the axle housing where the pulley axle normally sits and tried beating on the end of the shaft of the flywheel axle. But it wont budge. I also couldn't get the wedge to move on the wheel so I took the tire off and was going to use a cherry picker to pull the whole assembly out. I have tried a scissor car jack in the inside of the axle housing and tried pushing on the end of the axle shaft to force it out from the inside, but was afraid I would put too much pressure on the axle housing and crack it since it is only cast. I did put a lot of force with the jack and it wouldn't budge the axle. Anyone have any thoughts. Even though the seal on this side was not leaking, I am this far and with my luck if I don't replace it, it would leak as soon as I put everything back together and fill it up with oil.

Bull gear moves freely on the shaft and would come off fine but the axle needs to move out of the axle housing first because the bull gear hits the differential

Well I just ran into the same situation on my BR and it was the same side that was stuck. I to tried and ruined my cars scissor jack thinking it wouldn't take much to push it out. Luckily I have a 10 ton hydraulic porta power and a cylinder with a about a 1" stroke. I took a piece of steel that was about 6"x 6"x 1" and laid in flat on the opposite side bearing/seal bore. I tell you it took all of the power of that cylinder to push it out. It pushed the felt retainer and all out.

I think Mark has a good idea. Put the other side back in with the new seals and tighten it down, then use the wedge for the flywheel side axle. I did that on the 630. It's a real test of patience getting those heavy gears back on the splines when you are alone but it can be done.

That's interesting. You didn't crack the inside of the rear axle housing? That is my main concern using a lot of pressure in there? But not a bad idea?? Thanks for sharing!

So your other side came out after you put your free side back
in and tightened it back up? I thought of that too, just trying to
decide what to try next?? Thanks
