Hydraulic Oil JD 1070

My JD 1070 specifies "Low Vis Hyd Oil". I have lots of normal universal hydraulic oil that is about 20 Wt. Is the JD Oil a lower viscosity and can I use the universal oil instead. I have been replacing the front loader hoses which seem to leak on at least one hose every year after setting detached through the summer and losing some oil in the process. I think I will go ahead and replace all the remaining original hoses to the front loader. It is a 1995 model with only 700 hours on it. The new hoses I get made up here seem to be a lot better quality hoses than the originals but they did last for over 20 years!

Does operator's manual specify a certain ambient temp when low-viscosity oil is required. What type trans does your tractor have?

The transmission is a normal 3 speed with 3 axle positions to provide 9 speeds total. There is no temp or viscosity specified. It just says use Low Vis oil.
