Old topic that I need so help with. Went to the paint store to get 262 John Deere Green in Imron and they told me it was no longer available. After a few phone calls I found out it was only available in Imron Elite Base/Clear under a different paint code. I was also told Centari is also on its way out as not many stores mix it anymore. What are you guys spraying and what are the paint codes for old JD Green?

Thanks

I use Rustoleum automotive primer and then Farm and Implement paint. They make a john deere green color. Get it from Home Depot, you can get a case of 6 cans for 22.56, green or yellow.

The John Deere paint is super high quality. Add a hardener at 8-1. John Deere sells paint, primer, hardener, and thinner. The hardener makes the paint really shine. Just finished painting my rims yellow.
I don't know why you would use anything but the JD. Keep in mind they changed colors somewhere around 1990.

JD paint off the shelf is not that great of stuff. It fades something terrible as it has no uv blockers in it. It is durable I will give it that, but I've found that it is too runny to spray on something that really matters. Perhaps that is why the call it implement paint.

I spray PPG. I have my own formulas. For Green, I have a basecoat formula and a single stage formula. On a given tractor I can spray some parts single stage (with or without clear) and sheet metal parts base/clear and they will match.

Having just painted my first tractor with automotive paint I would never go back to enamel. 2k paint covers better, adheres well and dries fast enough that when you get done with one end of the tractor with the first coat you can almost start over back on the other. You almost have to work at it to get a drip. I used DuPont Nason and a DuPont clear coat.

If you want to go that direction I will try to get you the paint codes.

John Deere paint rules! Even painted SWMBO's 1990 Yugo with it. Doubled it's value.
