JD 3130 needs front pump replacement

My 3130 needs a front pump replacement/ rebuild. Is there enough room for the pump to come out from under the rad/fuel tank, or does the rad fuel tank have to be removed? Can anyone weigh in on this?

I think one must remove radiator to remove frt pump.

Why are you wanting to remove pump? Is pump leaking or no/low hyd pressure? Many frt pumps have been replaced on JD tractors with closed center hyd's to determine that frt pump wasn't the reason for poor hyd's.

Hi TX Jim , im glad you asked. The 3pth lift arms have been weak and shiver on the way up. Also the steering is shivering and there is a knock
coming from the front pump.

Could be more than one problem. When was the last time the front pump drive bushings were replaced ?
There could be a leak back to sump on the high pressure side of the system. Is there a loader or anything hydraulic attached to the tractor ?
Both the steering and rockshaft seals can deteriate with age and allow oil to blast past.

Proper testing and diagnosis is important before removing the pump. Very rare for the pump to be the problem with what you are describing. The noise could be the drive coupler. That said, I think the pump will come out by removing the air cleaner.

Ditto what b&d stated as resolving knock could be as simple as replacing worn out hyd pump drive bushings(key 5). Hyd diagnostics is needed before R&R frt hyd pump. With 3 pt raised, engine running look in open hyd filler hole behind seat for moving/spraying oil which would indicate failed rockshaft control valve seals or failed RS piston seal.

There is no loader attached to the tractor. I had changed the front pump rubber bushings a number of years ago and thought they were worn out again,
so i checked them and they are still like new. I have one other system (clue) to give you. Once you run the tractor several hours and warm up
the hydraulic oil , all hydraulics stop working suddenly,3pth will not raise and steering will also stop.Next day, when the oil is cold it will operate but still be shivering etc,can this also suggest that the front
pump is bad?

I had a 3040 that did same. A pipe inside the transmission was cracked. I could change remove and fix it by taking shifters cover off on the top.

Yes filters have been changed, small screen has been checked, old hydraulic oil has been drained and new oil has been added.

Have thought of one more clue. The very first time i encountered problems with the hydraulics, i called my local mechanic. He drained the hydraulic oil(while still nice and hot) and unscrewed the hydraulic filter canister, the filter inside the canister had a huge crack in it and had exploded. What would cause the filter to explode?

I would bet there is nothing wrong with the front pump. From the symptoms you describe there is a high pressure leak to sump that "outruns" the capacity of the transmission pump that causes the front pump to cavitate and make noise.
With the oil cold, tractor running, remove the hydraulic oil filler cap and look toward the front and right of the rockshaft housing for a spray or stream of oil. This is the most common area for the leak to occur and is a considerably easier (and cheaper) repair than the front pump. If the leak is not there the next culprit is SCV's then steering.

...Why are you wanting to remove pump? Is pump leaking....
Not to side track from the OP but mine is on a 2020, hydraulics working fine but front pump is leaking badly. Is there a re-seal kit or would the pump have to be gone through.

That outer seal is just to direct the weep oil from the inner high pressure seal into a drain line running back to the transmission. The oil drain line is sometimes missing or plugged.
