4430 Exhaust Elbow

Trying to fix the leak I have on my 4430 between the elbow and the turbo. I bought a new connector piece but when I was looking online the elbow they show has a tab on the upper side of the elbow, like the first picture I have attached. Mine does not have this upper tab, mine is the second picture. My question is what is this upper tab for? and do I even have the right elbow?

the tab for the elbow is to attach the air filter on 4630, 7020 2nd gen, and 4440 to 4955.

4430 should not need it, except for maybe the steering valve block?

You have an early 4430 that does not have the new style steering valve, the elbows are subbed to the later elbow,,it will be no problem for you to use..

The spacer between the turbo and the elbow does not seal tight until its hot . It has to expand or it would do damage to the turbo . Yeah I know they are all stuck but they did that under lots of heat and carbon .

So your saying the spacer should be loose between the turbo and the elbow? I have to press the spacer in to the elbow to get it to fit but it fits loosely in the turbo housing

Well someone must have replaced it with an early style because mine is a 1977 serial 73240R. But I don't see where anything on mine would attach to it. And by the way Tim I took the clutch valve housing out and sure enough one of the springs was broken just like you said, the clutch works great now.
