John Deere L governor gear

A neighbor farmer is restoring such tractor. Is in need of this gear. About 5/8 bore, 3/4 wide, couple inches in diameter(??),diagonal gut gears, roll pinned to shaft.
I am conducting search for him.

If it is the actual governor gear, DEERE sold it with the shaft and weights as part #DEERE AL2718T.

A GOOGLE search turns up a bunch of 'em, including a couple of new ones in the high $200's.

First is it a Deere engine or a Hercules?? Next try evil bay and there are a couple of outfits on line that deal with L parts.
