I bought a 71 4020 the other day and it's set up on factory 18.4-38 rear tires. It has the long lift arms for the 38s also. My question is would I be hurting the value of it if I wanted to convert to 34s and change the fenders also

Just curious, why would you want to go to 34's? Most people go to 38's for many reasons, but 38's are easier to find.

I do not like 38 inch rubber on a 4020. It jacks the drawbar height up and looks to big. I like the factory look of the 34 inch rubber. If worried about value put your big fenders and 38 inch tires and centers away and keep them for when you want to sell it. A set of 34 inch centers should not cost much and new or used fenders are plentiful or let the exisiting fenders on.I bought a 3020 awhile back that had the big fenders and recently saw a set on a 2030.It is your tractor so set it up the way you want and don't worry so much about future valve. Tom

Another option would go to 16.9x38.I am looking for a nice large set of fenders as they are hard to find. They were an option in 71/72 but do look a bit large.18.4x34 are still available but not much cheaper than 38s

I agree with Tom in that I like the 34 in look better, but that is what I grew up with.

In your case, if your tractor has the big fenders, the longer 3 pt arms, etc, I think I'd leave it alone if you plan on reselling it. Late model 4020s command a premium, as you know, and somebody would probably want it that way. Or if you plan on keeping it forever, you could keep the parts.

I think you might find that when shopping for tires, a 34 is just as much as a 38.

In the end, the choice is yours.

The 38s that are on it are pretty much all used up. And I think the 34 look better also I have some center and rims. Im going to sell eventually so I was just wondering. Brent

I may be interested in your centers/rims/tires for my 4320 depending on where you are and if they're the same size axle. I think they are. Email is open and I'm in Michigan.
