4430 Hydraulic Leak

I have a hydraulic fluid leak at what I "Think" is labelled as the hydraulic oil return line (AR71319 ??) The leak is at a fitting on the right side where this line goes to an elbow and then there is a nut that is in the rockshaft housing (?). It appears beneath the nut there is an aluminium washer.

On the tractor with the leak the line has been replaced with a hydraulic hose. I have attached 2 pictures:

1) The fitting where there is a leak
2) A picture of the line on another tractor which I think is the original part.

Questions:

I cannot find the parts diagram that shows the nut/fitting in the housing. On the tractor it is very tight and just checking if there is something else I should know before forcing it a bit.

There is a similar line on the left side...I may not be at the right diagram but did not find a left and right hydraulic line.Would like to replace the existing hydraulic hose with the proper metal pipe.

Thanks for any help!

Rich

That elbow is called the pressure control valve. The washer is steel and there is an oring behind it. Get your serial number for parts as there are number breaks (three for sure) to get the right parts. I would just replace the complete elbow, most of them break the snap ring and dump most of your oil if not caught right away. Hopefully your tires are set wide, and there is a spring and shims behind the elbow and can be tough to get back in. chris

If it's leaking at the o-ring under that fitting nut, cut the elbow off with a sawzall and get the replacement fitting that has a swivel, this lets you change it out with out removing the 3pt arm (which will be on there tighter than you can imagine) Also look close at the area right below that fitting,, I have seen cracks there...The elbow kit is AR74194

Thanks everyone for your help. Very good information that points me in the right direction,

Thanks!

Well it is NOT the return line it is the high pressure supply line to the three point and rear SCVs. Tx Jim and Tim S have it right in that you need to replace the o-ring. which requires taking the three point lift off or cutting the old fitting and replacing it with the one Tim S gave you the number.

As for the line being replaced with a rubber hose. IF the hose is not bad I would leave it. They are less likely to leak and the steel lines will crack the taper if not installed correctly. I have not installed a "new" steel line in over twenty years. I go with a "GOOD" hose instead. The steel line is a real pain to install.

Tim is right about the cracks but as I remember they cracked between
that bore and the small plug above it. Seems the distance between the
two holes is not the same on all housings.
I would reconnect the hose and check for a crack. It usually would not
leak until the oil was hot.
If you replace the elbow you should install the line otherwise a hose
would allow the elbow to swivel up and down and wear the oring causing
the elbow to leak.

Welcome to YT
Yes AR74194 will fit tractors with PS trans.

Where can we buy the AR 74194 kit?

Some $50 at your local DEERE dealer.

We now have the AR 74194 elbow conversion kit, but nothing seems right. Is there directions to a website that shows exactly what is needed and exactly how to do this?
