JD L clutch won't disengage

Just got this L recently. I've noticed 2 things about it. First the clutch doesn't want to disengage very easy. I have it adjusted right but when
going into gear I have to nudge a gear to get it to stop. Or after driving it awhile and push in to stop it won't, having to hit the brakes pretty hard
to disengage the drive. Any ideas ?

Second the drive shaft seems to be out of round causing a vibration in the trans. Can watch it from the bottom side and see it clearly. It has a
rubber mount on one end. Is it possible that has been replaced and holes not drilled correctly causing what I described?
Any help is appreciated

I've an LI I'm working on, had same problem with clutch. Found rear main seal had been leaking oil for awhile and clutch disc was oil soaked. Repairing the seal and replacing the disc solved the problem.

Should be a fiber disc on each end of the driveshaft. If these are worn or soft driveshaft may not be centered.

I did spray brake clean in there and it started releasing like it should until it dried up. I'll check into this one.
Can a person get new driveshaft discs anywhere? I really need to find a parts book and owners manual. Could really help

Do you know what the "ball" bolted onto the drive shaft is for?

The ball is a sickle bar mower drive pulley. That would run a leather belt which ran down to the mower drive pulley mounted under the middle of the tractor. You can get new fiber discs on ebay or try calling the Ridenours in Ohio.

JDparts.com has the parts manual available if you go in using the old system still.

I also had a similar problem with an LA and it turned out the pilot bushing needed replaced even though it looked fine.
