Hello From Central Texas.
I Have a 74 Model JD 830 and I recently acquired a nice used JD145 loader. The loader came with a Cessna closed center control valve and I need to replace it with an open center control valve. Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement? Thanks Lefty

Welcome to YT
Surplus Center or Bailey hyd's are 2 places that come to mind.. Below is a hyd schematic on correct way to attach loader valve hyd's to a JD 830 3 cyl tractor. You should entertain the idea of listing for sale the replaced hyd valve on this site's free classified ad section in upper LH corner of the home page.

What type & number control valve do you have? JD didn't build the valve & conversion parts are probably available from a good hyd supply business.

The best I can tell the original John Deere part number is AW20889. It was made by cessna which was bought out by Eaton. My soninlaw sells Eaton products and we could not find anything. I have talked to the folks at surplus center. I think they can help me. Great folks and very helpful. Thanks for suggesting them.

Thanks Jim. I am also looking for JD Part # W21205 It is the manifold that sandwiches to the pressure control valve. Or can you suggest an alternative place to plumb it to my 830?

JD still offers the manifold only it's a little pricey. I can't think of a good way to access pressure & return pressure without the manifold other altering tractor hyd pressure line . You might contact some short line loader manufacturers such as K/D or Westendorf to see what they provide with a new loader. Below is a discussion I located on attaching fel hyd's to a JD 830 utility tractor.http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/hydraulics/274685-putting-loader-jd-830-1974-a-3.html

Got the parts and a new open center control valve from surplus center and shes up and running. Plumbed her up just like you said and she worked great! Thanks a bunch for your help!

I put the original closed center control valve in the classifieds. Really had no clue on how to price it. I put it for 950.00 a fellow at JD suggested that. Is that a realistic price or am I way off base?
