950 injector noise

I would like some advise on a perceived problem. On starting our 88 950, yanmar engined, there is a loud knock or rap until it warms significantly, exhaust is white and there is blowby out of the vent tube. After warming it quiets, blowby drops significantly but is still there, but standing on the injector side of the tractor you'd think you were near a sewing machine. I picked this up as we have a 2155 and there's no noise at all. what do you think?

We have a couple JD Yanmars. They are noisy SOB's especially when cold. I wouldn't worry about it. And as far as the blowby let's face it, - it's almost 30 years old and has some wear so you're going to get some blowby anyway if it has any kind of hours on it.

I guess my question is should I replace the injectors, and what am I getting into, to watch for for that project. I have the tech manual and am more than comfortable doing the wrench work, I'd just like the benefit of more experienced eyes as to what to pay attention to. The sewing machine noise sounds like a stack of washers being shook back and forth om a bolt. Seems now that I noticed the noise that's all I hear thanks

Manual says to check valve adjust and get injectors tested every 500 hours. On our 750 first time I got some on the valves. My inj. pump guy said to keep an eye on the nozzles so I had them test every 500. I had to have new tips put on them maybe at 1500 or so hrs.
A bad injector can ruin an engine.
