Have any of you seen that farmer, that shows his Snap on brand tool box. he open every door and a lot of the plastic boxes for special tools. Snapon tool box tour part 2. On youtube. There got to be about $200.000.00 worth of boxes and hand tool's.

Interesting video. While I was there I
viewed Snapon comparisons which reinforced
my opinion that Snapon tools are not worth
the price.
I do have some Snapon tools as well as other
brands but if I was starting out new I would
probably buy mostly Harbor Freight tools.
My problem would be warranty. Harbor Freight
is 70 miles one direction and 45 the other.
Craftsman is 5-8 miles. 5 miles for other
brands. Would have to wait for truck for Snapon.

I live 30 miles from anyplace that resembles a hardware store. I have a few Snapon tools but not many. I don't use tools enough to justify the price difference. I bought a Snapon ratchet several years ago and it broke awhile back. I am not near any truck route and didn't know where they were. I drove around with that broken ratchet in the trunk of my car for a couple years trying to flag a truck down. Always seemed like whenever I saw a truck it was going in the opposite way or I didn't have time to stop. Tried their website with no luck. I finally hung it up on the wall as a reminder and haven't bought another Snapon since.

I believe that Snap On has some of the VERY best tools on the market.
But the Price on so many of them is so far out of line makes them not
that good for my needs.

Take your ratchet to a garage or shop where
a mechanic has Snapon. That truck stops there
regularly to get money from him that could be
making house payments.
The Snapon guy will take care of it for you.

My son worked as an 'auto tech' (schooled and with the certification). He was 'sorta' brainwashed into the Snap-on system. He has since moved on to other avenues, and I have been after him to do something with his tool box(s) - the boxes alone are $4K used, the contents maybe $50K. There were some problems with the drawer glides - SO replaced them free under warranty. The list goes on and is boring, BUT, the idea being that SO, DOES stand behind their stuff.

If your living depends on your tools, you should be buying top shelf stuff. If you need them to do their job a couple of times a month, you can get by with something of somewhat lesser quality. Myself, I need my tools for work, but not for heavy daily use. So I have an S/K 3/8" socket set with both SAE and Metric in both deep and shallow that I adore and has served me well for over 15 years. I have 70's era JD 1/2" drive set that I inherited from an uncle and am quite attached to that as well. Wrenches are mainly K/T and screwdrivers and nut drivers are Malco and Klein. I also inherited a nice set of Owatonna pullers that my Grandfather bought in the 50's and are in great shape yet. I also have a good collection of 18V DeWalt cordless tools. No the best of the best, but not the dregs either. They don't get a lot of hard use, but will stand up to it when I do need them to. Which is about all a guy can ask out of a set of tools.

if you do the research alot of snap-on tools are made by other companys , i needed a pair of snap clip spreaders ( not a common item) with a little looking around found wilde made them for snap-on, so i bought online, way cheaper & i swear there the same , even have the same color handle covers as snap-on , very good quality w/ lifetime replacement for 1/3 price

I'm a senior master ford tech, shop, foreman for a dealer, and I just say if you do actually depend on your tools for a living, snap on is where it's at, matco, Mac, Cornwell, also good, weekly visits to warranty any broken pieces, yes price is high but you pay for quality and service, seen a lot of guys not be able to do a job because their broken off band wouldn't do the job, so the guy with the tool got the job, therefore got paid, it makes a difference if it pays your bills, had many Cubs borrow my tools till they could get their own, I don't mind as long as they buy their own, good quality when they can. Just my two cents but have seen it a lot, there is a reason they can sell tools for that price, why do people buy a John Deere when a kioti can do the same thing, reputation, quality, parts, service, sure it costs more but it's a better machine.
