How long for a 2cyl. diesel to warm up?

I put a new water temp gauge in my 720
diesel. The old one never worked. I've never
seen this one rise off the bottom peg yet
either, however the hardest this tractor
worked since the new gauge is a 15 minute
drive in high gear. Is it not going to warm
up just putting around?

I guess I should pull the probe out, put
some heat on it, and see if it rises. But
I'm also wondering if I have a stuck open
thermostat possibly. How long do these
diesel take to warm up?

My last tractor was a "G" with M&w pistons
and a few other goodies. It got to
temperature quickly!

My 70 lifted off the low temp mark which I think is 140 after idling for about 15 -20 minutes at 800-900 rpm. The thermostat was new last year. It never warmed up before that unless worked hard. I'd replace the thermostat.

Thanks for the replies. I just took the thermostat housing off. The thermostat wasn't stuck open....it was gone! No wonder it was keeping cool. I bet the old gauge worked too. Not bothered about that though, I freshened up everything on the dash anyway.
