My tractor is an JD301 A industrial tractor that was purchased from the County. While planting food plots last season noticed the clutch was not stopping the transmission, took a long time
for the gears to stop before shifting, and the PTO was dang near impossible to engage with the tractor running. Have an operator, service, and technical manual. Reading through them there
were various procedures for checking hydraulic pressure, relating to the operation of the clutch. When I went to perform the procedures none of the connections I was to make were physically
located on the tractor. I am assuming the main problem is the clutch and that it and associated parts need to be replaced. Before splitting the tractor and tearing everything apart wanted
to reach out and try to find someone with experience with these older industrial tractors. I myself am not a mechanic, have family members that are and they will be helping, so please let me
know if additional information could be helpful. Any advice would be appreciated on the following:
Does this appear to be a blown clutch?
Are there any intermediate checks and/or adjustments that can be done prior to splitting the tractor?
Why are the technical and service manuals to matching up with my tractor?
