Need to pull drive gear off crank.

Need to pull clutch drive gear off crank. Won't budge. Suggestions needed and welcomed. Thanks.

I had to use a little heat and a BIG puller on my 630 and on my 50. The puller needed to be big more because of the long reach than the pull being hard.

I used Glennster's tip on replacing the gear - hot oil (like frying fish).

Are you using the two 1/2 inch holes in the driver and tightening bolts there to push the driver off? At least that is how the 70D clutch driver comes off.

I 2nd the hot oil trick for replacing the gear. I put the gear in a metal paint can full of oil on top my woodstove, and let it cook a while. Once it's hot I pluck the gear out with the fire poker while wearing welding gloves. Slides right on the shaft.

Here's what has worked for me. Put the two 1/2 bolts in the clutch driver and tighten them up until you see the disc flex somewhat. Put the big bolt back in the end of the crankshaft and then rap it with a 4 lb. hammer several times. With the plate under pressure from the bolt tightening and the impact of the hammer blow they usually jump off. I have also found that running the 1/2 bolts in with an impact wrench sometimes will loosen the driver, but you run the risk of breaking the plate with too much pressure.

I used Blaster and then the two bolts like the manual suggests. It took a while and slow turning but it eventually came off.
