4320 oil leak

Approximately a year ago we had an oil pan gasket leak on a 4320.We have developed another oil leak and this time it appears to be hydralic fluid. Where are the places to look and how big of a job are each of them to fix? Ive been told more than likely it is the input shaft seal and possibly going to need an input shaft as the tractor has high hours. Any tricks to pinpointig my exact problem? Thanks for the help.

Sorry I was kinda vague. The leak is in the bell housing. The pto clutch has oil on it and oil drips from housing. I believe my pto break is starting to go as well as the pto is starting to turn while the tractor ground drive is engaged.

Hyd leak at clutch housing is probably
pto pistons. They are at the rear of the
housing viewed with lower access cover off.
They are two pins about 1/2" to 5/8" D.
Requires a split to repair. replace rear
engine seal while there.

D's telling you what's wrong, and to add to it make sure you have the PTO fingers adjusted as close to even as you can,,when they are "uneven" they let the pistons pulse and this will eat the seals up..

Getting back to the oil leak. I cleaned out the bell housing and it appears the left pto pin as Im sitting on the seat is leaking. With the pto engaged the pins pulse. How do I fix the pulsing? Im sure this has caused the o rings to get chewed up. Is there anyway to tell for sure that it is just these pins leaking and not the input shaft seal? Thanks for the help

That is a common problem on the early console model tractors, the PTO clutch fingers get uneven from wear or set up , Split it and inspect the clutches/fingers,, replace the rear engine seal while your in there, the pistons have 2 quad rings in the rear and 2 o-rings,2 back up rings to seal them, and very carefully do your best to set the fingers evenly.

I've got it split and that appears to be the problem. Before I split it I did adjust the linkage to the pto valve. It was not seating all the way when it goes over center. After I adjusted it the pins no longer pulsed so hopefully I can clean the oil off of the the clutch pack and put new pins and seals In and be good to go. We just put a rear main in 3 winters ago. Should I still put a new one in? Thanks for the help

Since you know the History of it you should be okay,, I automatically change them when I don't know how long it's been in there..
