1940 AR John Deere

Still working on this JD,so can some one tell me how the rocker arms get oiled and from and to?? I have this tube coming out of a gear box but that doesn't look like an oil tube but maybe it is?? any help on this??

There is trough in the gov. housing that collects oil. It then goes down that external tube to the valve cover and drips onto the rocker arms.

Like Mark stated, there is a trough inside governor housing, sort of like an eaves trough on your house. It collects oil that is then directed down pipe to valve cover. When I tore into mine the "eaves trough" was full of crud, sort of like leaves on your house. you can probably guess what that does for getting oil to rockers!! Also take the time to clean trough above rockers in valve cover too! mine was totally plugged.

[Thnks, pulled the plate off today on left side of tractor, all looked good, lip on valve cover looks good, tractor apart at present, have to put a new head on it .The one on it was split form side to side on bottom. Froze up before I got it. Thnks for replies
