Golden Experience?

I've raised Labradors for awhile now but a year ago a breeder I know said she had a litter of Golden Retrievers . With the exceptional pedigree I was weak and gave in . I've never owned a golden before so I didn't know how she would differ from my labs. As I've learned now , Hope has shown some real loving tendencies over and beyond my labs . With williness to complete any task at hand with grace and genltiness. I was wondering if any of you have had similar experiences?

What a beautiful dog! I've had wonderful labs but my second choice would be a golden retriever. My experience is that they're loyal and lovely dogs.
 

Compared to a Lab I think you will find the Golden as smart or smarter and a little less obnoxious. Instead of oily spots where you Lab has been you'll find drifts of hair.
 
A good Golden Retriever can be a wonderful companion. we had one years ago that was 110% loveable. Would chase tennis ball until my arm got tired from throwing. Also seemed to sense time, and when school bus would drop our son off at end of driveway. She would go lay by barn and watch end of driveway about 15 minutes before bus time. Many good memories!
 
Neighbor had one. We got along VERY well! Living back a long lane (for Ohio) I park the truck at the end of the lane instead of plowing to get out if heavy drifting snow is forecast. She would always make the trip with me! We often rolled in the snow which we both enjoyed.

She would wander across the field & realize she didn't have a present for me as she approached. One day I saw her coming & as she got near she realized..... no present. She quickly grabbed a pine cone & as she got to me she spied her stuffed Mallard Duck toy. She dropped the pine cone, grabbed the Mallard & went back home.

Every few weeks the neighbor lady would bring a few cat food bowls back she'd taken to their place.

One day the neighbor & I were both traveling the road home. She was ahead of me & my drive was first. We ended up getting out of our vehicles at about the same time. Neighbor lady asked me if I knew how it felt to get home & have your own dog look at you then look across the field at the neighbor man & then take off running to the neighbor?

She really was a very nice dog!
 
beautiful dog, I have a chocolate lab who is the definition of unconditional love will play ball until mother makes us behave wants to be with me no matter what I'm doing My neighbor has a golden and they are best friends both are wonderful dogs and we are all so blessed to have them
 
We have had labs and lab mixes. 4 years ago we got a female Golden retriever. She is a real sweetheart. Very willing to please and a wonderful companion.
 
I've only had German Shepards myself. Incredibly smart, loyal and protective of the kids. Only complaint I have of the 3 I've had is that if you hold them in your lap as pups they still think they fit when they weigh 120 pounds.


You don't own pets, they own us and they pay for us with their love.
 
even the male golden retrievers are that way had one named Max. Most protective gentle dogs I have ever had. Just got a German shepherd pup seems to be very smart not quite as gentle though he is only 10 weeks old and already over 20 pounds.
