I just got done with a combine engine. No starter or ring gear. Starts easy with a crank. What would be a good use for it? What is the HP? 3 1/2 inch pistons.

IIRC ? the book on them said they were 16 hp as a power unit.
You could always put it in a LA tractor with a worn out engine.

I use mine to power a Meadows Grist Mill, I put a flat belt pulley on it and it works great.

Are there any hints or keys to get it started from the crank? I was able to finally get mine running using a pony motor belted to it. When I hand crank I get one good pop and then the plug is saturated and doesn't seem to fire under compression. Both plug fire when outside the engine. I put new points and condenser in it a few years ago and I checked the carb again when I started it with the pony motor.
