A while back I posted about a late LI I was working on. I had questions about a code (AL130) and the color (Hi-way Yellow). After some research and questioning it seems that the code Al130 meant the tractor was prepped for a sickle bar mower. It seems like the driveshaft shield was wider to accommodate the pulley for the mower. Hi-way Yellow seems to be a flatter yellow that the early John Deere industrial yellow. I'm not saying these are facts, it just seems to be where my research has lead me. I've decided to paint the tractor JD industrial yellow (the earlier version), my thinking was that if I ever needed to touch it up or add an implement the JD paint would be easier to come by and match.
Now for your opinion, this tractor has the original serial number plate, it isn't in the best of shape, but very readable. I removed it so the tractor could be sand blasted. I also ordered and have received a replacement plate. My question is what would you do with the two plates, put the new one on over top of the old one. Install the new one in the original location, and mount the old one under the hood or somewhere that it would stay with the tractor but not be obvious. How would you do this?
Thanks for your input. I'll let you know my final decision.
