3010 pto repair

I,m looking at a 3010 that has a pto that is not working. Can you give me an idea of what it would cost to repair it? How many hours would it take & what would parts costs?

More than likely the pto drive pin inside is sheared. It is a cheap part(used to be less than $10) but you will need to split the tractor to fix. Most likely the rear pto shaft came loose letting the shifter rod move and the next time the pto was engaged the pin sheared. You can fix it in a day.Before you start the project go to Ebay and try to get an original 3000 series service manual. It gives much better directions than any other book. If you are never going to use the 1000 rpm pto you can remove it so this problem never happens again.I have never done that but others who post here have. Tom

IIRC tractor must be split between clutch & trans housing to repair. I will guess repair will take 6-8 hrs of labor. IIRC tiny pin can bend sufficiently without breaking so pto drive gear can't be engaged. I would suggest to eliminate the 1000 rpm drive as Tom stated and change to 540 only without utilizing the tiny speed shift pins. Back when I changed the 3010/4010 pto to 540 only I utilized shim washers & as large a bolt with locking nut that would fit in slot in shaft in place of pins to hold 540 drive gear in correct location on pto drive shaft.
