Looking at buying one ove the 12 volt hot coils for my 1951 b with delco dist it states you can gad plugs wider has anybody done this how far did you gap the plugs coil is 40k volts just looking for a litle more pop for the b thanks

Some of those so called "hot coils" draw more current then the old stock coils and if they draw too much over 4 amps the points can burn up prematurely although sure you may have a high energy spark for a while. If you upgrade to a higher current rated electronic switch that solves the problem. I've seen elec switches using HV coils and they run a plug gap of at least 0.035 up to maybe 0.050 or so. However you need good quality HV rated plug wires and a good cap and rotor when you widen the plug gaps to avoid HV breakdown and arcing. Id consider just a good general tune up with new plugs and wires and points cap n rotor versus a HV coil and wider gaps and all that "stuff" if you still use points.
