730 Power steering problem

I have an interesting problem with the power steering on my 730. It is gaining fluid from somewhere. The oil looks similar to the power steering fluid so thats no help. I do have to add engine oil occasionally but how would that end up in the power steering pump. Any ideas are appreciated.

The vent pump on the Governor end of the fan shaft needs rebuilt . This pushes engine oil into the steering pump .

OK, thanks, makes perfect sense.. Any advice for this??? Or is it pretty straight forward?

Also, there's a double seal or two seals back-to-back in the PS pump.

Mite B some issues there.

My 620 did the same thing, rebuilding the power steering pump fixed the problem. The seal on the drive shaft side is a suction seal, when things go bad it pulls engine oil into the system.

ok, looks like I will be rebuilding the power steering pump. Thanks much for all the help.

There used to be a rebuild kit. I always ordered individual parts, then I found the kit and started using it. I ordered one kit and the next time I went to order one, they were NLA. It's a shame too. The kit was nice. It had all the parts needed to overhaul the pedestal. No seals for the P/S pump tho...
