Need help estimating value of 820 for the widow of a coworker. Looks to be an original tractor, really clean sheet metal with some light surface
rust showing. Stored in a barn from dry Eastern WA , 23.1x 26 tires are about 30%. Has pto, single hydraulics, foot throttle-decelerator. I
spent a few hours and cleaned the gasoline tank, lines and carb, topped off oils, watched a couple of videos on how to start it and then it did.
Ran really well, pony seemed to run a little rich but smooth and with good power, main engine kicked right off on a damp 40 degree day..
charging system works, 6 volt yet but no lights worked. No pictures as it was to dark in the barn but would like some help as to current value.
Not very up to speed with the green ones, usually play with red or orange. Thanks for your help, Mike

Two listed on Machinerypete.com. One is restored, listed at $12,500. The other an original in really good condition listed at $11,750. But.....these are asking prices, not sales prices.

Here is my guess without seeing it. If it is really 3200 hours, I would say $10,000 may be possible if you find the right buyer. If it is 13200 hours, it might be as low as $6500. It should be pretty easy to tell the difference by how tight the clutch handle is, how round the drawbar hole is ect. As with anything, she has to start at a price she wishes to get and then come down as necessary to get it sold.

Value may also matter depending on if it is a later one or earlier one. At a certain serial number some things changed the main one being things in the engine along with the HP went up. Later ones are harder to find. All I can say about the price is to check out places like tractor house and see ASKING prices from dealers. Got to watch categories as JD made a 3 cyl. 820 in later years.

I like to look on auction time, you can see auction results if you know where to go. ill try putting a link to them may have to copy and past to address bar. looks like 4700 to 9000 is the going rate according to past auctions.

I missed a pretty nice original a month ago, guy had it on craigslist for 4000. needed a few things but for that price it was worth it I think.

if I was closer I would be real interested in it depending on price of course. if she comes up with a price send me an e-mail

I have an 80 that has 2400+ original hours, the 3200 hours on your 820 is believable to me. My 80 came from an auction in Kanas that had several two cylinder diesels and they all had low hours. When I mentioned to a guy at the auction that I did not believe the hours on these tractors his response to me was "what do you think they used them for, they planted wheat".

It is a later black dash tractor, eighth black dash made by one serial number list I found. Drawbar and clutch are pretty tight hours are likely correct. Forgot to mention that it has power steering and one set of weights. Thanks to everyone for the help so far. Mike

I misspoke, my 80 has 3400 some hours, and came from out west. One of my 70D's was what I was thinking about. Dry climate tractors are special and it only takes getting one from somewhere like Louisiana to see the difference.
