Painting an Iron Horse - 4440

I'm getting ready to give our 4440 a paint job. I am willing to really DO IT RIGHT. What is the best sequence to give it that just-off-the-assembly-line look? Do I need to go as far as lifting the cab off?? Do I paint the black portions of the cab first, and then shoot the green with the black areas masked off? Is it best to take the glass out and paint the frames and then reinstall the windows? I've got a feeling this is going to be a much bigger project than our 4020, which did turn out perfect, if I must say so myself.

Thanks in advance.

If there is any blistering around the windows in the door, remove the glass.Painting the black first is easier, since there is less to mask over once painting the green. I did not remove the cab on mine, with the wheels off, you should be able to shoot enough paint underneath it. You could also remove the cab floor to paint the top of the transmission....it comes out on mine. Hope it turns out nice for you. Post some before and after pictures. Ben
