Replacing injector

I have a JD 2640, 4 cyl. 276 diesel. We did a lot of work on it, including replacing the pencil-style injectors. According to the JD parts book the new injectors are supposed to have a washer and a seal ring on the bottom, going into the head.

The seal has exactly the same outside diameter as the injector......which means it will not slip over the injector.

How am I supposed to install this seal? Does it slip down into the head?

JD part numbers:
R48000 seal
R34764 washer

If you replaced the injectors the seals are on the injector already aren't they? Otherwise there is a little thimble tool to slide the white seals on, put on the bigger seal before you install the small one. chris

As mentioned, install the top compression seal first, then the lower carbon dam seal. You can modify an old lower ink pen body and use the taper so help slide the seal in place, just don't stretch it more than needed.
