cost to rebuild scv

What are the approximate costs to repair a leaking scv ? Also how much more when the valves are leaking internally ??

My neighbor had one leaking externally and Deere quoted him $1000 to go through it. I replaced the quad rings for him and fixed it but if its internal that expensive. Get TimS to quote it for ya.

Parts costs about $150 aftermarket for 4 valves & seal kit. Breakaway coupler seals are about $20. I think Tim stated he charges $250 labor to recondition scv but I'm probably incorrect.

Depends on what it needs. One valve-spool or four? Seat have to be reground or not? Sometimes under $100 and sometimes over $400.

My prices are in this area (Note all are in Canadian $, deduct about 30% for US)
Aftermarket kit for couplers $25, + $100 labour
4 aftermarket poppets @$41 ea= $164
aftermarket seal kit $58, + $220 labour
Totals $247 parts, $320 labour

4 poppets AR86535 $52 each (A&I are cheaper when you can get them)
1 upper o-ring kit RE10924 $54.70
1 Lower o-ring kit AR82570 $27.72
Labor for re-build and bench test $250

They are the same as the A&I's I would imagine,,I was getting some from A&I, then they were back ordered so I was going with the ones from Deere,,and Deere probably gets them from A&I...ether way they seemed the same,,except or the cost...

When going through them they some times need new barrels/sleeves..levers, and lever stops,, the ISO conversions a lot of times have cracks or grooves where the levers go up through,,when this happens they need replaced with a new conversion set about $180. The 50 series style are different yet and a lot of times the plastic face area is cracked up and needs replaced, you can get $50/$60 in that part, they some times have a broken rocker in them which will keep it from working at all..I forget what those cost. I use a different style Quad ring in the coupler and charge the same as the Deere kit cost,, it is close to the same cost. They upper kit I get from Deere because there are a few o-rings in there that I can't seem to find anywhere else yet.On the Poppet's I change them out, they usually have some metal flakes stuck in them or grooves wearing into them that will fail soon. The Deere dealers around here have been quoting $1,000 to do them and they don't normally work out well, they don't want to mess with them so I think they throw that High price out there to scare you away. I do a lot of them and want them to last a while when they go back home, and the bench test under full 2250psi pressure proves them out well.

Tim S, always impressed with your business and your facilities to test this stuff.

How do you have the customer ship to you? Just put it in a box and pack as best you can or do you send them a foam form of some kind to hold and protect the part not to mention tearing through the box?

Tim, have you any information or experience with the grove conversion from Wapsi Innovations? it is an ISO conversion to pioneer and they don't leak- or so they say.
trying to do my due diligence and learn my options.
IMHO these type conversions with your rebuild..........bullet proof?

i just put a set on my 3020 but haven't used it yet but i thinking ty well be ok i like the push to connect pull to disconnect the couple is made by Parker hyd and thinking ty same as on 6420 jd

I have no experience with the WAPSI conversions themselves, but the coupler bodies as used on a 6420 and similar tractors are NOT "bullet proof", are not field rebuildable, and are expensive.

Several neighbors/customers that use their similar tractors every day with cattle operations keep a spare barrel on hand, because when they suddenly fail internally and start dumping oil from the mechanism inside (NOT at the the coupling O-ring) they become a (oily) paperweight and need to be replaced.

I think these onlt pertain to the 20-30-40 series, not the new style SCV, I could be wrong, I have no idea what the 6420 has, but I think it is a completely different setup.

Does anyone know if there are plugs/ dust plugs for the pioneer conversions like the original john deere plugs?
I personally like those heavy duty plugs with a chain on them. they seem to fit nice and tight and then they don't seem to fall out easily like the floppy rubber plugs do.
The rubber ones also tear and give up and fall off easily also.

Here's some hyd ISO breakaway coupler plugs with life time warranty but sorry not offered with attachment chains
