Power troll -How does it work???

I have a 1952 "A" with a powertroll or rock shaft as I tend to call it - and I need to find out how that system works!

My cousin told me to check and see if maybe it is in the UP position - when it is running I can move the control handle forwards and backwards and there is no movement in the rock shaft. At first -he thought it may just be in the "UP" position and since there is no load attached -it will not come down.

I tried a bit or leverage with a large pipe wrench and an extension of 2 inch pipe -(4 foot!) and no movement seems possible.

If it is stuck in place -What do I have to do to fix it????

Agree with [b:654c4848f0]Mark-Ia[/b:654c4848f0] that the "[i:654c4848f0]PTO and Clutch need to be engaged for the PowerTrol to work.[/i:654c4848f0]"

Take a look at the diagram below.

Note the shifter lever (Key 58).

Take a look at the photos below of the shifter lever.

Hope this helps.

All right -I have to give you all a BIG APOLOGY!!! I thank you for the information provided and to inform you that I now have this little problem figured out!
Thank you!
Now the rest of the story-I was actually trying to get the "Power Lift" to work! I had to go back and look at the exploded parts diagrams to figure out the I have been wrong in what I was asking for! I will submit another post with the CORRECT terminology!
