Does this load jet screw have the end broke off?

I am working on a JD630 carburetor and it looks like the end of the load adjustment screw is broke off. Is it really broke?

Also there was a shim/washer located on the stem that came off in the disassembly of the load jet. (See in photo) Is that shim/washer necessary?

Sorry, here is the photo.

The tapered nose bushing that goes on that screw may be stuck up in your carburetor. The end of the screw that goes threw the cone is peened like a rivet to hold it on.

As the others stated, yes, it is bad. When you get the tapered "umbrella" out check the tapered seat. You will notice notches that look like screw slots. They aren't, but they ARE indexing marks for the metering holes in the seat. If they are not straight across from each other you will need a new seat as well as the valve. If the valve has turned the tractor will never run right no matter what else you may do later.

To clarify this is the altitude compensator adjustment. There is not a load screw for these carbs...the jets are fixed size...that compensator is supposed to have o rings and it has special threads....very expensive item....

Marks Carb on e-bay has best deal on these and free ship. Punch in john deere dltx carb on e-bay. may take some searching but you will see one of these come up and he is the only one other than Roberts that I've found one. Not cheap.
