I'm looking for info on the R prototype it had a Cat pony motor on it??I saw a picture of it about 20 years ago and can't find another..thank you

The Two-cylinder magazine featured articles about a family
that tested the R prototype on their farm(s) near Winnie, Texas.
Don't know if it was Jefferson or Chambers county, back in the 1940's
Telephone (888) 782-2582, they have the articles archived
on a searchable CD-ROM. IIRC, articles were in the 2001 and 2003 years, especially
Rice tractors and farming on the Gulf Coast (1942-1971).

the original pony engine for the Ror MX was a single cylinder deere made engine. the pony from an R and a d-4 cat may look similar and may have been designed by same individual ( I have had both apart at same time)but were indeed different. Deere was working on the R or MX as early as 1936 plenty of time to make their own pony engine.Paul
