4430 Fan Pulley

Wanting to change the fan belt pulley and also see about lining it up with alternator better. I saw some aftermarkets for less than 1/2 price JD. Thoughts? Is it a difficult process to slide water pump hub to make belts line up with alternator better? Thanks! JW

You will need to go on with a pump rebuild when you do it,, the hub will need pressed on and off, this will disrupt the seal for sure,,when I do a walk-in pump I measure the hub so I can press it on to where it was,, when I take them off here in the shop I "Eye" them to see if a little correction is needed,,and a lot of times it's the alternator pulley that needs corrected, you can pull the alt. pulley and space it some with a washer under the pulley,, and some alt. mounting brackets have elongated holes to allow for belt alignment.. and some thing for us all to keep in mind the belt pulleys wear in the "V" badly from all the dirt that the fan pulls into them,, when they get worn it is near impossible to get the belt tight.. this is some thing that I take into consideration when I do an engine O/H

Thanks again Tim! It appears on this one the alternator pulley would have to go in rather than out. I do not see a lot of room for moving hub out on water pump, but haven't taken pulley off yet. Something I will take a closer look at.
