46 b questions

So as I am replacing the muffler on my b I found that there is no heating fins in the front I have the knob on the dash but I was wondering if it was an option or standard and was removed at sometime during the tractors life my second question would be if anyone is running theirs still as an all fuel and if they are are you running strictly kerosene or a diesel gas mix and what your mixture would be my third question would be it takes a lot of turning to get it to start my carburetor seems to be a bit off when running it has to have about a quarter choke should I turn my idle screw in or out it is just off a rebuild that I did myself and made sure the passages were open had to rework the nut and threads ended up cutting a pipe and tig welding it to the base where the last one had been saughtered cut a union and tig welded a bolt head to it made the depth the same and oringed the outside around the bowl for a seal

Shutters were standard on all "B" through end of production. Carb needs re-built correctly if it only runs right with part choke. I am baffled as to how you can re-build your carb and not know which way to turn idle needle. Just sayin'.

If you need to run with 1/4 choke, your carb isn't clean. All brass screws need to be removed and aircraft bits run down the passages. Then there is the secret passage in the bottom of the stem that is always plugged.

Not so much that I don't know how it works it was more of a question about the load screw vs the idle screw and if you can have one messed up and it messes with the other carb had been at a place in ohio I believe my grandpa had sent it off befor I accuired the tractor and it had that secret passage cleaned the reason I had it apart was for the bottom nut issue with gas coming out of the fuel bowl bottom and new needle and seat just in case
