Anyone out there that has done this conversion and would be willing to posts a few pics of what it looks like on one and where you mounted the battery. Pros and cons of the conversion also very appreciated! Thank you.

Personally I have never seen an unstyled B converted to electric start. I would rather see it stay original. You could always trade up for an electric start.

41106 We change them on our pulling tractors. Way to hard to start with the compression we use. Unless your B is one of the first 168 ones built just get starter bracket off of the later ones. 41 to 47. Gear reduction starter is little over $100. We mount the battery is different places. Some are on the front weight bracket. One is mounted on seat bracket we made or aluminum to save weight and uses 400 Amp lawnmower battery. Good for a dozen starts. Lynn

No telling how many kits Ive sold for folks with unstyled tractors.Lots of them with heart bypass for one and some some old or sick and tired of it but love the unstyled

Thank you all for the input. Lynerd, I follow you on getting the starter bracket, but could you please be a bit more specific on the gear reduction starter? What makes, model, etc...is this starter designed to fit or what needs modified for my application. Also, do I buy a ring gear and machine my original flywheel to accept it, or...? Thanks again!

41106 Get a flywheel off of the same tractor as the starter bracket. Several different places you can get starter but here is one. Make sure they have 40mm gear on them and 10 tooth. Lynn

Just clarifying, the starter is a direct bolt on fit once I get the bracket and change flywheels?

41106 Yes direct bolt on but may have to cut down outside flanges on starter to get guard to go on. Can't remember if I had to do it on this starter or not. Run Cummins starters on the A's and G's and do that to flanges. Run hot wire to bolt on starter then a wire to a switch and back to the starter solenoid. Get a guard and put on it to. Have to make some brackets and maybe drill a hole to make it fit. Be next week before I get to where the B is and will take some pictures. Lynn

I had a 38 A that had electric start on it. The starter parts were off a early styled A. It worked great. It did not have a charging system but would start the tractor for several months off of a full charge on a good battery. The parts were all bolt on and would be easy to convert back to stock. The model B would be exactly the same. I sold this tractor a while back and I now regret it.
