The original subject was "4250 powershift".

Finally got around to fixing the tractor that was slipping in odd gears. It ended up the B-hi clutch was toast. Looked like some of the piston seals were leaking. Fixed all that and put it back together. The system pressure is still 162. I'm going to shim it to get the pressure up. One thing that seems odd is that the lube pressure drops from 20 to 10 psi for a second or two when shifting from 11 to 12 and 13 to 14. It goes right back up but takes a little bit. Before it was dropping to 10 psi in 12, 13, 14, 15 and not going back up to 20 psi. Is this a problem?

More than likely without looking at a chart is those shifts are double clutch shifts, two clutches shifting at the same time.

Here is a chart to look at..

I think you're right about the double clutch. It makes a little different noise when it makes the shift between those gears. I read somewhere it's not suppose to drop more the 1.5 psi between shifts. Just wondering if anybody thought it would cause an issue? I guess the main thing is the pressure comes back up. Appreciate the responses!

You do not want a drop of more than 1.5 psi lube pressure between gears after the pressure stabilizes. Lube will drop momentarily as the clutch elements are filled with oil. A sustained pressure drop indicates leakage in a clutch element. Yours sounds ok.

Well that makes me feel better. I was hoping that was the case. Didn't want to tare into anything else. Thanks Cliff
