I recently bought a new nose cone to put on my 2640 hood. I bought it on ebay thinking they are all the same. Well I went to bolt it on and it is close, but never going to fit onto my hood without breaking. Has anyone else ever fought this battle? Do I need a new hood, or just buy another nose cone from the dealer? The hood is pretty straight, but then again it is 40 years old. If anyone has any suggestions please respond.

Is your 2640 below or above serial number 341,000?
Below SN requires part number R59961 for nose piece.
Above SN requires part number R74971 for nose piece
So I went ahead and bought a nose cone from John Deere and sure enough it was just the right size. The aftermarket one I bought was smaller by about a 1/2 inch. Hope this saves someone a headache in the future. I don't know how many hours I spent trying to put that aftermarket one on,and the dealer one went on in 20 minutes.
