JD 2040 Rockcatcher lower load control shaft seal replacemen

Load control shaft seals need to be replaced. Drag links attach to this shaft.
We have removed load control shaft and rear wheels for access. Have purchased 'O' rings and seals.
'O' rings are easy inserted in to the groove.

How do you install seals into groove without breaking the seal in two?

Warming them up in hot water will help.

www.bolingmachine.com make a better seal and bushing than you can get from Deere. You need to install shims to take the side motion out of the yoke
also to make the seals last.

I didn't see 2040 L/D seals listed on Bolings website. I think JD's utility tractor L/D seals are very well designed & durable unlike the seals utilized on JD 10 & 20 series rowcrop tractors such as 4020's.

Ditto on removing side to side motion from L/D shaft & draft links.
