John Deere Model A Head

OK here is the question. Don't know the year of the tractor. But the motor was full of water and froze. It blew a piece out of the head. The old fellow who is building it is not computer savvy. So I told him to get the casting number off of the block which is in the machine shop. Am I correct in assuming that I can find a comparable head using the block number?

Look at the front side of the head there is a casting # it will tell you what you need. i have heads on the shelf to fit Model A s from 1935 thru 1952 give me a shout if i can help
