Will a head off of a 4020 fit on a 4010. I am wanting to get away from the big injectors. I think I want to anyway. I am adding a turbo to this tractor and thought i might change the head if it would work.
Thanks
Bud

Yes the heads will interchange up to the side console models, the very early 4020 heads had the bid injectors like your 4010, you will need new lines to match of course..

It will bolt on but the oil passage in the rear is problematic as the head oil passage doesn't line up properly and will leak.

The head I have is in great condition. Am I crazy for wanting to change the head to change injectors? With a 4020 style head will I see any benefit?

The smaller injectors are easier to keep form leaking..the lines on the old style were troublesome..

Many years ago I did the same switch with a 3010. I figured that my old head needed rebuilt and the cost of rebuilding my injectors was very close to buying a 3020 head, lines and new pencil injectors.I think the 4020 will have slightly bigger valves so you should gain a little more power(That is what my shop told me anyway). While you are at it get rid of the 4010 fuel filter setup and change it to the spin on style that a 4020 uses or better yet the latter square glass filter. Tom

4020 has larger diameter intakes.
Won't make a difference if turboed.
I wouldn't change.
Either way you need grade 8 head bolts.
I retorque them to 150#.

I changed a 4010 to the newer glass type, a little tweaking with the original lines and it looks factory.

I have a 4020 head with the small injectors and lines with the glass fuel filter. The best way to contact me is by my cell phone 219-405-8484.
