Location of serial number on JD 2010 backhoe

(quoted from post at 23:04:05 01/06/17) I am buying an old beater JD 2010 backhoe/loader. Where should I find the plate with the serial number?
he tractor serial number should be on the right side of the motor block if it is still their. Loader and backhoe have their own tags, the loader could be a 700/710/720, tag on left side frame ? and the backhoe could be a 50/51/93/93A/94/95/95A , tag on the right side or the main frame ? Pictures may help to determine what you have.. If you haven't bought the unit you may want to consider that parts for the 2010 are next to impossible to find, especially the diesels.

I don't think there is an such thing as a "2010 backhoe." More likely a 2010 industrial wheel tractor or loader tractor with a model 50
(conventional) or model 51 (sideshift) backhoe. The tractor serial # tag is probably on the engine block. 2010 was also available with a
model 700 front loader, so there can be many ID tags. As recall, the 2010 came with a standard loader and whole machine was called a "2010
industrial wheel loader" or with a HD loader and then it was a "2010 industrial wheel tractor" with a model 700 loader.

I am new to these machines. My son bought the tractor at a low price and put 1 new tire, a used stabilizer cylinder, a new starter, and a new battery in it. His intent was to sell it as it turned out to be larger than he wanted. I told him I would buy it for what he has in it. The machine is a yellow gasser. I have a picture but have not yet figured out how to include it. It runs and seems to be strong including the hydraulics. There is a whine that is yet unexplained; hydraulic pump? - I hope not. I would like to change the engine oil but probably need the serial number to get the right filter element. Right now the whole machine is under a huge tarp. I'm heading out now to try to find the serial number. It's cold here in upstate NY and not pleasant to spend much time groping around.

I found the serial number, W 18413. Thanks for telling me where to look. It would have been difficult to find with all the grease and grime that covers the entire block. You are correct about the machine configuration. The loader has the original 2010 decal on the right side frame. I did not find any identification on the backhoe.

Thanks for the information, it's a big help. I checked the free JD parts web site but did not find a 93 hoe. When I was out there under the tarp, I noticed that the hoe appears to be pinned on. Thanks again.

I expect to be out there tomorrow and weather permitting, pull the tarp off and crank up the machine. I'll take pictures of the hoe mounting and perhaps you can identify the model. In the free JD Parts web site I put 93 in the search function but book 864 did not come up. Apparently not doing something right.

In JDparts scroll over to box labeled "catalog number" & insert "864" then click on the correct model 93 catalog.

Found it. Need to look closer at mine and will take pictures as well. Thanks again.

Found the tag on the hoe. You were right, it's a 93.
