So I am getting close to being able to start this up. Does pouring oil down the oil pressure sending unit hole help any as to priming the oil and and getting oil to any moving parts?? When I put the oil pump back on I did cover the gears with a good thick coat of STP oil treatment so that in it self should help prime it.

If you oiled parts as you went together you should be OK.
STP? They used to push that stuff in the sixties but most
decided it caused sludge. Maybe it's been changed?

I was taught many many many years ago to use STP as a engine lube on every thing as one of putting it back together. I even coat my fingers with STP before I touch parts. Still remember seeing a finger print on a rod bearing when I took an engine apart and asked a old machinist about that and he told me acid in your fingers will do tha tif you touch parts with your fingers with out coating them with oil etc.
