1946 JD B Magneto Question

Hey Yall,

I just picked up a JD B tractor that is kinda a basket case right now. I'm doing a tear down and rebuild of it. The tractor is missing the magneto, but I have a Wico XH 1042 short lug spare for my '47 A. I was wondering if this would work on the B? I did test fit it and it seam to go in place okay, but wanted to make sure it would definitely work on it before I sent it out for a rebuild.

It will fit & work fine. The A however used a 30? drive coupling where it seems to me the B only used a 25?. Might want to check that out. Any good mag fixer can change that for ya. You might be surprised how well that mag will work if you just clean, polish then carefully gap the points & give it a try.

Thanks for the info, I'll tell my rebuilder to check that.
The mag was a spare that was in a bucket of other parts
that came with the A when we inherited it. The points and condenser are missing so I'm just gonna have it gone thru to make sure it's in operational condition.
