4020 loader hydraulics

Loader hydraulics are acting up again on this 68 4020. Brakes and power steering is great. Most of the time the loader stops working at different places! Sometimes it stops lifting or then tipping the bucket. This happens regardless of clutch engaged or disengaged. I know about starvation issue with clutch. This loader uses the left scv's. Tractor doesn't make any strange hydraulic noises. Tractor is a syncro range

Check standby pressure for 2250 PSI, the priority valve will shift to steering and brakes if low.

Ditto on checking stand-by pressure.

It's possible loader control valve is open-center or reverted to open center if it's the convertible type. You can check to determine if hyd loader valve is OC by removing return line male hyd tip and placing open hose end in hyd filler hole then with loader control levers in neutral start engine with scv activated to operate loader and no oil should exit open return hose.

Have you consider attaching loader valve directly to tractor hyd's & utilizing a hyd ported filter cover for return oil?

Easy stuff first, change hydraulic filter, check cross screen,(look for silver paste from brakes)and check fluid level. If these are good start checking pressure or if you have dual SCV's plug into right remotes.

We are going to plumb it in and take it off the scv's.
Just have not had the time lately. When something
is working it has less priority then the broken stuff.

The valve will need to be CC, closed center, if piped in, and should be either way to reduce pump load.

In addition to the other good suggestions you might want to check your hydraulic tips as well. These can sometimes act erratically. Switch a suspect tip with it's mate or a known good one. Try the simple things first. Mike
