Problems with JD 4250 MFWD Power Shift

I have a JD 4250 MFWD with Power Shift Transmission that will only move in the reverse gears. I took the tractor to a mechanic who split the tractor and did a complete overhaul on the transmission and when he got done it still only moves in the reverse gears. I can only guess that there must be some type of forward/reverse valve that is malfunctioning?

you took it to a guy who say he rebuilt the transmission and it still don't work don't sound good i mean dam hope he finger it out

The valve controlling the direction and speeds is on the side of the transmission. It is service externally. These transmissions are not some thing to take to an inexperienced shop.

My 4250 had problems in that it would only move in half of the forward gears and reverse. I made some hoses with comp check fitting on one end and gauges on the other, warmed up tractor and then did all the pressure checks so I was sure of what I need to fix. You can save a lot of time and money that way. I ended up replacing a clutch pack was all.

Any time there is an issue with a power shift a total pressure reading is needed "Before" you go in,,then looking at the shift chart you can come up with a repair plan,, and even driving it and marking a shift chart will give you some ideas also,, here is a shift chart for the 15 spd.
