630 with round fenders?

I posted earlier about the headlight switch wiring on a 630. Someone asked if I had two or four lights. After that question I realized the tractor has the wrong fenders. It is a row crop nf. The fenders are round clam shell fenders. There are no lights on the fenders. The headlights are mounted on each side of the dash like a 620.

Did John Deere ever use round fenders on a 630 and mount the lights like a 620?

I also have a JD 630 with those same fenders, I am sure they were just the low cost option or were added later.

Both flat top and clam shell fenders were optional. Standard equipment was the two-light setup with dash post mounting like the previous series. Mike

Yea, those fenders were nearly always had to be removed for accessories and equipment mounted on the tractor.

The Fenders for the JD "B" have been and still are standing way back in the tool shed..never been on either one...

Now-a-days, Fenders are a good idea for Safety..we rode many hours standing by that rear tire behind us and never needed to be told to "Hang On or Be Careful"...

Flat-Tops may end up being far less "Safe" today, with the Lack of being around and operating them as we constantly were.. and NO..there was NO Horsing around on them..absolutely NOT and Dad's Belt would have been all too handy to set us straight..and NO Law was going to interfere..!

I can just SEE kids allowed to ride ON the Flat Top of the Fender...

Not too much should surprise you any more...!!!

here some photos. I was standing too far away to get a good view

That is a real sharp looking 630!

What is the square black/white box above the drawbar?

And where do the lift cables hook to the three point?

I think the set of fenders I put on my 50 were the ones I found in someones barn stuck in behind the poles and the siding. In like new shape.

PJH, I'd guess the box you are referring to is a battery charger, note the extension cord, and seat cushion is off. It all adds up........

tractorguy2 : ? Do your round [ clam shell] fenders mount on top of axle with 2 bolts, or does bracket mount on bolts on both front & back of axle , asking cause they look different [in pic] then factory JD round fenders , more curve & wide on top too; they almost look like aftermarket fender A&I sells / pics of both..

The fenders mount to the front and rear of the axles. The brackets are made from very narrow channel irons. Barely wide enough for the nut to fit.

Fenders you have are definitely not John Deere ; could be aftermarket or retrofitted as [jd addict says] from Cockshutt or Oliver etc. sharp 630 & Nice match with No. 90 snow plow...look like these, add on's.. pic...
